Activities

At Heartland Country Village we offer a comprehensive Activities program where we strive to provide interactions that are fun, fulfilling, and geared to individual interests.  Residents are encouraged to join in group activities which occur regularly throughout the day, as well as spend one-on-one time with staff members.

Group activities may include making pies, gardening, playing bingo, exercising, playing cards, going to Beauty Bar for manicures, attending church services and taking part in various types of musical entertainment and parties.

We focus on each resident to determine what their individual interests are and then find ways to make their lives more rewarding.  Some of the more individualized activities include fishing, bird watching, listening to books on tape, and reminiscing.

Most of our residents love visits from animals.  A traveling zoo from Madison and various volunteer groups and family members provide interesting and fun visitors.  These have included an owl, penguins, twelve labrador puppies, snakes and tarantulas, a goat, llamas, a calf, cats, parrots and other birds, and dogs.

Resident bus trips have included riding the ferry across the Wisconsin River and stopping for ice cream, driving through the countryside to see fall colors or Christmas lights, and going to a parade.

Each year we host several special events for our residents to enjoy time with their loved ones.  Our Mother's Day Brunch provides a time for all families to come and take part in a fantastic buffet.  Our Christmas Party is very well attended by residents, family members and staff, who sing carols, exchange gifts, and enjoy wonderful things to eat.
